Savy service terms

The terms for Savy refund services and separately agreed monthly tax-management plans.

Savy service terms

Effective from 21 September 2026.

1. Who we are

Savy is the trading name of Savy Solutions Limited, company number 15479653. Our registered address is Huckletree, 9 Great Ancoats St, Manchester, M4 5AD. You can contact us at hello@savy.tax or write to that address.

We provide tax support independently of HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC). We are not HMRC, and HMRC does not endorse our services. You can deal directly with HMRC and claim a tax refund yourself without paying Savy a fee. See HMRC's refund guidance.

2. What you are agreeing to

These terms apply when you use Savy as an individual. Before you buy a service, we will explain the work we are offering, the tax years or periods it covers, the price or how it is calculated, and any relevant limits. That offer, your acceptance and these terms form your agreement with us. We will provide a copy you can save, including the version of the terms you accepted.

An estimate, a free conversation or a connection to your HMRC account does not, by itself, mean you have bought a service or authorised a submission. A refund claim and a monthly plan are separate services. Agreeing to one does not sign you up to the other.

We will confirm when we have accepted your instruction and what we need before work can begin. We will tell you if your circumstances fall outside the service we can provide. We will not charge for extra work unless we first explain its scope and price and you agree.

3. What Savy does

Depending on the service you choose, we may help you collect and understand tax records, identify possible reliefs, prepare a PAYE refund claim, monitor information you provide, review your tax code, or prepare agreed returns and updates. Only the work in your accepted offer is included. An advertised service is not a promise that it is available for every person or tax situation.

We use software and AI to support conversations, document processing and tax work. These tools can make mistakes. We remain responsible for providing our service with reasonable care and skill. You can ask for an explanation, challenge information that appears wrong, or ask for a member of the team to review a concern by contacting hello@savy.tax.

We will explain important assumptions, missing information and actions that need your approval. We will not knowingly submit a claim based on invented expenses or unsupported figures. Unless specifically included in your accepted offer, we do not undertake tax litigation, formal appeals, investment advice or work for a company or partnership under these individual-consumer terms.

4. Your information and approvals

Please give us information that is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge, keep supporting records, and tell us promptly if something changes. This includes income, benefits, expenses, previous claims, other agents and relevant HMRC correspondence.

Please check the information and declarations we ask you to approve. Tell us about a mistake before approving a submission, or as soon as you discover it afterwards. You remain responsible to HMRC for your tax affairs and declarations; this does not remove our responsibility for our own mistakes or poor service.

Do not send us your Government Gateway password or security codes. Use the official authorisation process we direct you to. We may need to check your identity and authority before accessing records or acting for you. If required checks or approvals are missing, we may pause the affected work and explain the consequences, including any approaching deadline.

5. HMRC authority, deadlines and outcomes

Permission to access HMRC records, permission to act as your agent, approval of a particular submission and agreement to pay for a service are distinct. We will request the permissions needed for the agreed work. These terms do not assign ownership of your tax refund to Savy or create a blanket right to submit anything on your behalf.

You can withdraw our authority by telling us and, where necessary, removing the authorisation with HMRC. We will explain any work already submitted, remaining responsibilities and fees properly due under these terms.

We cannot guarantee that HMRC will accept a claim, pay a particular amount or respond by a particular date. Estimates are not confirmed refunds. HMRC may check a claim, offset a repayment against tax debts, change a tax code or later amend a decision. We will explain the information available to us and any material uncertainty.

Tell us about deadlines when you contact us. We will confirm which deadlines our agreed work covers and when we need your information. We will notify you promptly if a delay, missing information or service interruption threatens that work. Responsibility for a delay will depend on its cause; nothing here excuses a failure by us to use reasonable care and skill.

6. PAYE refund service and fee

Our PAYE refund fee is 25% of the refund you actually receive as a result of the claim we agreed to handle, including VAT where applicable. There is no additional VAT on top of that percentage. There is no upfront refund-service fee, and no fee for a claim that produces no refund received by you.

For example, if you receive £1,000 from a claim we handled, our total fee is £250 and you retain £750. If you receive only part of the refund, the fee applies only to that part when received. We do not charge this percentage on a predicted refund, unrelated repayments, a tax-code adjustment or an amount HMRC offsets against a debt rather than pays to you.

The refund is intended to be paid to you. These terms do not appoint Savy to receive it or authorise deductions from it. If a different repayment arrangement is ever proposed, we will explain it and seek separate agreement first. Any HMRC repayment nomination can be withdrawn before payment, and HMRC may decline to pay a nominee.

We will show you a fee breakdown and the payment method before collecting payment. The fee becomes payable only after you receive the refund. Any payment mandate requires your separate authorisation; agreeing to these terms alone does not authorise a debit from your bank account.

If HMRC later reduces or reverses the refund, contact us with the decision so we can review the claim and the corresponding fee. If the refund is reduced, we will recalculate our fee against the corrected refund retained by you and repay any excess fee collected. Your rights concerning an error by Savy remain unaffected.

7. Monthly plans

A monthly plan starts only when you separately accept its scope, monthly price and payment arrangements. The price, any free period, its start and end dates, the first payment date and what happens afterwards will be shown before you agree. Prices quoted to consumers include VAT where applicable. Your confirmation will identify the services and tax periods covered.

Where your accepted offer includes a free period followed by monthly billing, you will not be charged during that free period. Unless you cancel, the plan then continues monthly at the agreed price. We will send a reminder before the first paid period. We will not convert a free conversation or a refund claim into a paid subscription without your agreement.

You may cancel a monthly plan by messaging Savy or emailing hello@savy.tax. Cancellation stops future renewals. Unless you ask to stop immediately, service continues to the end of a paid period; if you ask to stop immediately, we will refund the unused part of that period. Cancelling during a free period prevents the first charge. There is no separate cancellation penalty or annual commitment under these terms.

We will confirm the cancellation date and identify any outstanding return, claim or deadline so you can make other arrangements. A monthly plan does not guarantee a tax saving. We will not change your agreed price or reduce your included service without giving at least 30 days' notice and the opportunity to cancel before the change takes effect.

8. Your 14-day cancellation period

When you enter into a service contract with us online or at a distance, you can cancel it without giving a reason during the 14 days after the day the contract is made. Tell us clearly that you want to cancel by messaging Savy, emailing hello@savy.tax or writing to our registered address. Sending the notice before the period ends is sufficient. You may use the form below, but do not have to.

We will not begin paid service work during that period unless you expressly ask us to start early. Under these terms, if you cancel within the 14-day period, we will not charge for work done during that period and will refund payments made under the cancelled contract. This is our contractual cancellation policy even if you asked us to start early. We will make any refund within 14 days of receiving your cancellation notice, using the original payment method unless you agree otherwise, without a refund fee.

Cancelling our service cannot itself withdraw a claim already sent to HMRC. We will explain its status and help you understand any further action needed. We will not submit further work after receiving your cancellation unless you separately authorise it or we have a legal obligation to act.

These rights are additional to any longer cancellation period or other remedy the law gives you.

9. Ending work after the cancellation period

You can end our work by messaging Savy or emailing hello@savy.tax. There is no general exit fee. Monthly billing is dealt with in section 7.

For a refund service cancelled after the 14-day period, no refund-service fee is due if we have not submitted the agreed claim. If we have already submitted it, the agreed percentage remains payable only on a refund you later actually receive from that submitted claim. We will identify that claim and explain the fee calculation when you cancel. This does not affect your right to challenge a fee or obtain a remedy for work that was not properly performed.

We may stop work if you ask us to do something unlawful, required identity checks cannot be completed, you withdraw necessary authority, or information needed to proceed remains unavailable after reasonable requests. We may also end a monthly service on at least 30 days' notice. Where practical we will explain the reason, give you a chance to resolve a problem and provide reasonable handover information. We will refund prepaid amounts for services we will not provide. We will not impose a penalty for ending the relationship.

10. Privacy and communications

Our privacy notice explains the personal information we use, why we use it, who receives it, retention and your rights. It is separate from your agreement to buy a service. Marketing consent is optional and separate from service instructions.

We will use the contact methods agreed with you for service messages, approvals and important notices. Please keep your contact details up to date. Let us know if you need a different format or communication method. Closing your account does not automatically erase records we must keep by law, but you may contact privacy@savy.tax to exercise your data rights.

11. Problems, complaints and our responsibility

If something is wrong, contact hello@savy.tax with your name, a way to reach you and a description of the problem. Please avoid putting passwords or full bank details in your message. We will acknowledge a complaint within five working days and aim to give a substantive response within 20 working days. If we need longer, we will explain why and give an update date.

We will investigate, explain what we found and put right a failure for which we are responsible. Your legal rights include having services performed with reasonable care and skill and, where applicable, repeat performance or a price reduction. A complaint does not prevent you from obtaining independent advice or bringing a claim.

We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of this agreement or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude responsibility for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in these terms removes your mandatory consumer or data-protection rights. Tax you would have owed even if our service had been performed correctly is not itself a loss caused by us.

12. Changes and applicable law

We will keep the version of these terms you accepted. Publishing a new version does not retrospectively change the price or terms of an existing refund claim. Material changes to an ongoing service will be explained in advance, with a right to cancel before they take effect. If the law requires an earlier change, we will explain it as soon as reasonably possible.

English law applies to this agreement. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, this does not take away mandatory protections under the law where you live. You may bring proceedings in the courts of the UK country where you live. If a provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue so far as legally possible. No provision allows us to transfer your obligations in a way that reduces your rights.
